Hannah Stodel finished fifth in the three-person Sonar fleet at the IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships at Kinsale Yacht Club.
The West Mersea sailor, along with helm John Robertson and fellow team-mate Steve Thomas, took part in nine races after low wind cut short the early part of the event in Ireland.
Stodel and her team, the two-time world champions, now turn their attentions to another big competition, this week's Sonar World Championships.
Stodel said: “It’s been an interesting Worlds this year.
“It’s been pretty short, because we lost two days of racing.
“It’s nice to be back racing, as we haven’t seen the foreigners all winter because we’ve been in Weymouth training.
“This was the first time we’ve been back against the full fleet and we’ve got 18 sonars, which is more than we’ve ever had.
“We’ve got some stuff to work on and now we have another World Championships.
“Hopefully, we’ll make the changes and we’ll be firing on all cylinders.”
