Darren Ambrose says he would consider a move to Colchester United if an offer came his way.
And the 30-year-old former Ipswich Town favourite says he is already suitably impressed by what he has seen of the U’s.
Ambrose made a surprise appearance for the U’s in their 3-0 pre-season friendly defeat against Ipswich Town, on Wednesday night.
The former Premier League star is currently a free agent having left Birmingham City and had most recently been playing his football in Greece, with Apollon Smyrni.
But the former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace player has recently moved to Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, with his family.
And Ambrose says he would be happy to talk about a possible permanent deal with the U’s, should he get the chance.
He said: “I spoke to the manager (Joe Dunne) and if he can help me get fit, that’s great.
“If something happens here I’d be delighted but at the moment, I’m just weighing up my options."
