Sean Clohessy believes Colchester United should set their sights high ahead of the new League One season.
And the attacking full-back feels the U’s can be a surprise package in the division.
Clohessy, who joined the U’s from Kilmarnock earlier this summer, is set to make his U’s bow when they host Oldham Athletic in their league curtain-raiser, this weekend.
Colchester are preparing to embark on their seventh successive season in the third tier, having finished 16th last season.
And Clohessy sees no reason why Joe Dunne’s side cannot aim for greater heights, in the forthcoming campaign.
He said: “As a team, we want to finish higher than Colchester did last season.
“Two years ago there was a relegation battle here but last season, they finished 16th.
“It’s up to us to go higher and it’s all about progression."
