Teenager Dion Sembie-Ferris deserved his call-up to Colchester United's first-team squad, according to boss Tony Humes.
The former St Neots Town attacker, who has been in impressive form for the U’s under-21 side so far this season, was an unused substitute for Colchester’s game at Crewe.
Humes said: “It was a decision made on performance as much as anything.
“Dion has earned it because in the under-21 games he’s been very, very good and he’s been good in training.
“It’s just another opportunity for another young player just to have an experience of what league football is about, the atmosphere, the ground and being involved and getting that taste of it.”
