Colchester United manager Tony Humes is pleased to have kept hold of Ipswich Town loanee Elliott Hewitt for another six League One fixtures.
Hewitt has penned a deal that will keep him at the U's for a further month and give him a chance to extend the 20 appearances he has already made since initially joining on loan in October.
Hewitt has played at full-back and also on the right of Colchester's midfield and Humes values his versatility.
He said: "Elliott has done very well for us and gives us a different option.
"I think we missed him when he was out suspended and he has been great since he's been back, including two assists in Saturday's win against Bristol City."
