Young footballers are set to showcase their talents on a European stage.
Sixteen players from Lexden Saints’ under-15s team are competing in a tournament in Prinsenmeer, Holland.
The Colchester and District Youth A League outfit secured their place after winning a competition on the Isle of Wight.
That was two years ago but they were unable to compete in the European competition last year due to a lack of funds.
However, after saving up, the players and their dads are now heading away for five days over Easter. The event organisers are providing a coachfor travel to the resort.
And while there, the boys will pit their skills against other talented youngsters from Holland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Slovenia, Russia and Belgium.
“It should be a great experience,” said Saints manager Alex White.
“We’re having another fantastic season – unbeaten so far this year and into two cup semi-finals.
“This trip will undoubtedly be another big highlight.”
