David Wright says he is relishing his new dual coaching role at both Colchester United and Maldon and Tiptree.
The former U’s midfielder is back at the Weston Homes Community Stadium as a full-time coach, working alongside under-21 coach John McGreal.
And Wright has also been appointed as manager of Maldon, as part of a new link-up between the U’s and the Ryman League division one north side.
Wright sald: "I’m very excited about the opportunity and I’m really looking forward to it. “My full-time day to day role will be working with John McGreal at Colchester United.
“And I’ll also have a part-time role as manager of Maldon and Tiptree, although I’m not sure how part-time that will be with the responsibilities that I’ll have!
“It’s going to be a big learning curve for me.
“But going down the coaching route has been something that’s been on my mind for many years."
