West Mersea sailor Hannah Stodel narrowly missed out on a medal at the Sailing World Cup, in Miami.
Stodel, along with John Robertson and Steve Thomas finished fourth for Great Britain, in the Sonar event.
Stodel posted on her Twitter account: “A disappointing finish in Miami just dropping out of the medals to fourth.
“But if there’s one thing I know, every race is a lesson and if you don’t learn that gold medal will never come.”
In a Paralympic year, sailors are looking to peak and lay down a marker in the build up regattas.
Stodel, a double world champion, and her colleagues now have a relatively quiet period, before a full-on period in April and May.
That includes the Sailing World Cup Hyeres and Weymouth and Portland, as well as the Para World Sailing Championships in Medemblik, the Netherlands.
