West Mersea sailor Saskia Clark has vowed to “come back stronger and better” following a tough week at the 470 World Championships in Argentina.
Clark, along with sailing partner Hannah Mills, finished in a disappointing 15th place after experiencing a testing time in San Isidro.
The 2012 silver medallists had improved from 33rd after the opening day, where they picked up a starting penalty disqualification in the regatta’s first race.
Writing on their Facebook page, they wrote: “A super tough week for us this week.
“What seemed like a promising start to the week, we felt good and we’re ready to race to win.
“However it’s funny how a few things/events can change the course of things and make you realise you are by no means a finished product and still have a long way to go.
“I am sure we will look back and think how lucky we are to have made the mistakes at this time and to have had the chance to learn and make the necessary improvements.
“Obviously it is a pretty horrid feeling when you are put to the test and come up short, but that’s life and we have to move on and not dwell.
“We are very proud of how we have dealt with it as a team and will come back stronger and better.”
