Sammie Szmodics has agreed a new three-year deal with Colchester United.
The new contract, which begins on July 1, will tie the attacking midfielder to the Weston Homes Community Stadium until the summer of 2019.
Szmodics has been at Colchester for ten years, rising up through the youth ranks to become an established first-team player after making his debut in September, 2013.
The former Stanway School pupil has made more than 50 appearances for the U's and will be hoping to make a big impact under new first-team coach John McGreal in League Two next season, having missed a significant part of the last campaign because of a foot injury.
