George Elokobi has been made available for loan by Colchester United.
The experienced defender, who rejoined the U's for a second spell last summer and made 19 appearances for them last season, has found opportunities hard to come by so far this season.
Elokobi has found himself down the pecking order in central defence, behind Luke Prosser, Tom Eastman, Frankie Kent and Alex Wynter.
And Colchester have now taken the step to make the powerful centre-back available for a loan transfer, ahead of the window closing at the end of the month.
U's director of football Tony Humes told the club website: "The decision has been made to allow George to go out and get some games under his belt.
"We are well covered at centre half at the moment and so this gives him a chance to go and play."
