West Mersea sailor Saskia Clark has been forced to wait to seal gold at the Rio Olympics.
Clark and helm Hannah Mills were hoping to complete a superb victory in their 470 Women’s Medal Race this evening.
But the duo, who won silver at London 2012, were left frustrated after a lack of sea breeze led to the postponement of their final race at Guanabara Bay.
The race is now scheduled to take place tomorrow instead, with a better forecast in store for racing.
Clark and Mills will go into the final race of the competition with a 20-point advantage over their nearest challengers, New Zealand pair Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie, thanks to two thirds and a second inside Guanabara Bay yesterday.
That meant that the Team GB duo just had to successfully complete the double points Medal Race without disqualification but they will have to now try again tomorrow.
