COLCHESTER 1
LOWESTOFT 1
East Women's League division one
COLCHESTER Ladies extended their unbeaten record to three games following a hard-fought draw against Lowestoft at the Garrison.
The hosts came out hard, with some excellent strikes on goal and attacks by Helen Scott, Hannah Jeffreys and Pippa Garbutt.
However, the Lowestoft keeper was a force to be reckoned with and would not let Colchester's past her.
Lowestoft took opportunities on a few moments of break play but were quickly met by a solid defence by Liz Pope, Livvy Jack and Ellie Benfield.
Frankie Harley and Kate Bagley worked their magic in the midfield and continued to hold and move the team up the pitch, as the first half finished goal-less.
Colchester came out hard after the break but fell behind when a nifty break from one of the Lowestoft ladies saw the visitors take the lead.
However, the hosts were not behind for long.
Colchester quickly retaliated when Karen Harris scored from a handy deflection following a slick routine from a short corner.
For the remaining 23 minutes of the game, both teams battled hard for a winner.
Colchester keeper Lucy Stutchfield made some stunning saves towards the end of the match and both teams appeared content with a draw, after a well matched game.
Colchester Ladies travel to play Watton, this weekend.
