THERE was home delight for Stanway Rovers as they moved up to seventh in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division with a 4-1 win against struggling Ipswich Wanderers.
Joe McCracken got Rovers off to a good start by putting them ahead and after the hosts had been pegged back by an Ipswich equaliser, McCracken struck again to restore the lead at half-time.
Further goals from Jordan Palmer and Jordan Blackwell then eased Stanway further clear after the break for their third win in a row.
There was an intriguing battle between two sides vying for promotion, with honours going to BRANTHAM ATHLETIC as they won 2-1 at COGGESHALL TOWN.
However, the fourth-placed Imps had to do it the hard way to beat their second-placed hosts.
Coggeshall took the lead with a 36th minute goal from Tom Monk and held that until half-time.
Things looked even better for them when Brantham player-manager Michael Brothers picked up a second yellow card within a minute of the second half starting to leave his side battling with ten men.
However, Athletic showed real fight as they levelled in the 77th minute and George Clarke fired in his fifth goal in his last three games to snatch the winner with an 83rd minute penalty.
At the other end of the table, though, there was no joy for WIVENHOE TOWN despite the Dragons taking the lead in their home game against Haverhill Rovers.
The bottom-placed Dragons went ahead when Tyrone Scarlett fired them ahead after half-time, but two goals in quick succession for Rovers put the visitors in front.
And it was a lead that they held on to, despite Wivenhoe pushing for an equaliser in the latter stages.
There was also a defeat for FC CLACTON as they were beaten 2-0 on their trip to Wroxham.
The Yachtsmen won with a goal on the hour mark from Connor Ingram and a 68th minute strike by Adam Smith.
