COLCHESTER Swimming Club members dominated in their latest event at Leisure World.

More than 80 of the club's young swimmers impressed, at the St Patrick’s Day Meet.

They competed against swimmers from Borough of Southend, Brentwood, Clacton, Colchester Phoenix, Dunmow Atlantis, Felixstowe, Harwich Dovercourt and Parkeston, Leighton Buzzard, Runnymeade and Stanway.

Colchester coach Emma Jordan said: “Once again, there was some amazing swimming on display.

"However, for me the outstanding swimmer on the day was Tom Grieve.

"Tom has been working hard on his breaststroke in particular and boy did it show with gold medals in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke

"He secured a massive four-second PB on his 100m breaststroke and recorded a regional qualifier time of 1.10.42.

“There were also exceptional swims from Jamie Coles, who also recorded a regional time with a huge three-second PB and Syd Roberts, who registered a four-second PB on his 100m backstroke.

"He is now tantalisingly close to breaking the one-minute barrier for his 100m freestyle, despite only being 13 years old.”

Zac Troman won ten gold medals in the ten events in which he swam while Molly Young won gold in achieving a two-second secs PB (personal best) on her 100m fly.

Isobel Eastell recorded an impressive four-second PB on her 100m fly and Elliott Whitehouse, who was closely followed by Alexander Cottrell in the 100m backstroke, who secured a PB to win gold.

Dan Himsworth gained a fine PB and regional time in the 200m freestyle and Anjali Tuckwell clocked 42.41s, for her 50m fly, as both swimmers claimed gold.

There was also a gigantic 11-second PB in the 100m freestyle for Camille Viel, who also took two seconds off her best 50m breaststroke time.

Kalaum Corani gained a whopping four-second PB on his 100m freestyle to win silver and also clocked 36.49 in the 50m breaststroke.

Anola Jordan took an enormous five seconds off her 50m fly.

Colchester Swimming Club head coach Michelle Young said: “It was another sensational meet for our swimmers.

"Their hard work and dedication is paying off and I'd also like to thank the army of volunteers who helped to make the day possible.”
