SAM Southernwood mastered the conditions to triumph in this year's Playgolf Colchester Members Cup.
Southernwood (13) produced his A game to card a superb winning 40 points, in links-like conditions.
His impressive round saw him beat runner-up Trevor Hollingsworth (19) by two points.
Hollingsworth finished a point ahead of third-placed Ed Quilty (12), who carded 37 points.
Ron Gilzean recorded his first-ever hole-in-one at the weekend in Playgolf Colchester's Members Swindle.
His lifetime achievement came on the par-three 14th hole.
Gilzean did not see the ball into the hole, as a bush blocks the pin-position.
He said: “I knew I hit it well, I knew it was online, I knew it wasn’t too long and when I couldn’t see it on the green, the closer I got the more I was thinking ace!"
A large field of Playgolf Colchester Seniors turned out in baking weather to compete in the Mid-Summer Cup.
Eight players returned under handicap scores with Seniors newcomer Shaun Evans (23) claiming victory.
He carded highlights of five pars in his round for gross 89 (nett 66) score.
Steve Turner (13)was second with an impressive gross score of 80 (nett 67).
Bernard Keyes (24) must have thought he was in with a good shout at winning, coming in early with his gross score of 92 (nett 68) to finish third.
There was a glut of par-three birdies to win a sleeve of balls each.
Topping the list was Allan Burke with two birdies on par three holes followed by Terry Pettitt, Will Elder, Guy Ansell. Greg King and Paul Taylor.
