MORE than 70 golfers competed for the Seve Trophy at Clacton Golf Club.
This annual competition raises money for local charities in memory of legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros, who, after a long battle with cancer, passed away at the age of 54 in 2011.
The 2018 winner was Craig Bruce, with 41 points.
Second place went to Tom Heffer, with 40 points, and in third was Steve Chignell, with 39 points.
The highest-placed lady was Julia Hewett, with 37 points.
Meanwhile, current Essex county Munro champions Katy Yates and Faye Trigg are through to this year's semi-finals.
They travelled to Colne Valley to play their quarter-final against a pair from Burnham-on-Crouch.
The reigning champions saw off the ladies from Burnham 3&2.
Clacton's juniors played for the Vertigen Trophy.
James Wright just edged out Henry Goodwin on countback after both players returned with 40 points.
Third place went to Jay Foley, with 38 points.
Clacton's seniors were away at The Essex and a close finish saw the home side clinch a narrow victory, 4½-3½.
Clacton's past captains played for the annual Past Captain's Trophy.
The winner of this year’s trophy was Bob Foster.
