FORMER Colchester United captain Luke Prosser has signed for Stevenage.
The 32-year-old, who made more than 100 league appearances for the U's during his four seasons at the club, has put pen to paper with the Hertfordshire club for next season.
Prosser will link with another former U's player - Ben Coker - at Broadhall Way after the left-back joined them last week.
Prosser was one of four senior players who were told by Colchester in April that their contracts would not be renewed past last season, amid the financial implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prosser, along with Frank Nouble, Ryan Jackson and Brandon Comley, were all told that they would not be offered new deals at the JobServe Community Stadium.
However, Prosser - along with Jackson and Nouble - played in both of the U's games against Exeter City in the play-offs.
Prosser, who joined Colchester in the summer of 2016, is the last of the quartet not to be retained by the U's to find a new club.
Ryan Jackson and Frank Nouble have joined League One clubs in Gillingham and Plymouth Argyle respectively, while Brandon Comley has signed for League Two outfit Bolton Wanderers.
Stevenage's divisional status for next season is still not certain.
The EFL's appeal against Macclesfield’s two-point deduction will be heard tomorrow.
That will determine whether or not either Stevenage or Macclesfield are relegated to the National League, for next season.
An independent disciplinary commission handed the Silkmen the points penalty and a £20,000 fine in June.
The Silkmen were charged with misconduct related to the payment of player wages in March 2020.
The EFL subsequently appealed, which could mean Macclesfield suffer a further points deduction that would leave them bottom of League Two and relegated.
