Sunday Shrimpers have finished as runners-up in the Clacton Sunday League premier division.
Royal Madrid could only manage a 1-1 draw with Station Villa (1970), enabling Shrimpers to cling on to second, despite going down 3-1 to champions Flag.
It was not until the 70th minute that Flag took the lead but, ten minutes later, Simon Pratt gave Shrimpers hope with a well-taken equaliser.
However, possible victory was snatched from their grasp as Flag secured three points with two late goals.
Vikings are on target to secure the division one championship, if they can maintain their winning run, and their cause was strengthened by a 4-1 win over Coastal Rangers.
Tom Lang (2) and Matt Lord gave the Vikings the comfort of a three-goal interval lead and, although Coastal pulled one back, they were then handicapped further by having one of their players sent off.
Vikings added a fourth through Joe Martin's left-footed strike.
Sokretez secured their passage into round two of the Pat Hemsted Memorial Trophy with an 8-0 drubbing of Tendring Railway.
Goals came from Cameron Welsh (3), Greg Wood (2), Gary Clarke, Dean McKinnon and Sonny Turnbull.
Viem's hit Blacksmiths Arms 12-1 in their second round clash. Daniel Welsh hit the day's top score of five, with brother Jason grabbing two of his own.
Carl Foster, Nick Goodwin, Jamie Cater, Alan Oughton and Mark White completed the Blacksmiths' miserable morning, while Harts also went through following a comfortable 4-1 win over Trinity House.
Danny Weston and Terry Rymer gave Harts a two-goal cushion at half-time and this was doubled after the break when Lewis Boniface and Rymer, with his second, ensured their progress.
Jason Law got Trinity House's late consolation.
