COLCHESTER Golf Club continued their winning streak with both the Thornton Cup and Curry Cup men's teams tasting victory.
In the county's premier competition, the Thornton Cup, Colchester had a potentially tough draw at Forrester Park, which resulted in an excellent 12-3 win.
In the morning foursomes, the opening match went right down to the wire, with Johnny Mallon and Matt Efford securing a half on the 18th green.
However, the other four matches all went Colchester's way.
With the lunchtime score sitting at 4- to Colchester, it seemed a tough task for Forrester Park to fight their way back into the match.
However, try they did, and Chris Cutchie, first out in the afternoon singles, had to fight hard for his halved match.
Dan Eke had a four and three win and Alan Sharrocks stormed home, recording three birdies in his seven and six success.
Solid wins for Owen Pearl (five and four), Efford (four and three), Mallon (four and three) and Brendan Booth (three and two) secured the required 3 points in the afternoon, but not before final-hole drama saw Steve Wynne and Colin Glassey lose their matches.
Miles Hooton produced the shot of the day, chipping dead from 30 yards to secure a win by one hole on the 18th.
Team captain Tony Rand said: "I'm delighted the way we approached this game.
"Away draws are always tough but the team gelled extremely well, with a mixture of youth and experience to produce a fine result."
Colchester now entertain Orsett at home in the next round.
Meanwhile, Colchester's Curry Cup team had a close win against Fynn Valley at home.
producing After the morning foursomes Colchester held a 4-2 lead, with Bill Hart and Ali Hall producing the best win of seven and six.
However, the afternoon singles was a different story as Fynn Valley came back strongly.
Colchester's Peter Brady added to the morning's score with a six and five win.
But Mike Withers and Gary Driver halved their matches, before both Alan Irving and John Waterson lost theirs.
Adam Harper briefly steadied Colchester with a win, but the next three matches all went Fynn Valley's way with Hall, Les Daughtrey and Norman Ryan all going down.
At this point, Colchester were one down in the overall match, but Hart secured a win.
Honours were halved in the two remaining matches, with Steve Parlett losing and Bill Tweddle winning to send the tie into extra holes.
Hart was Colchester's play-off man and he sealed the team's victory on the second hole.
