There was a narrow victory for the younger Colchetser Stars riders in their youth league match against Ipswich.
Stars have special dispensation from the under-16s league this year to use two under-17s as recruitment in the younger age group has been a problem.
Connor Wright was on top form, with five race wins and a second.
Fraser Clayson rode well and was consistant. Brother Oscar did it the hard way at times, missing the starts and fighting his way through to four wins and a third.
Jonjo Slaughter finally arrived to take part, delayed due to work commitments, and show-boated his way round.
Team riding and speed netted him two thirds and four race wins.
Patrick Kruger had a crash in heat ten, losing his front wheel after cutting under both Ipswich riders to take the lead.
He amassed ten points and was voted man-of-the-match by his team-mates.
With one race to go, Stars needed a one-two to win the match.
Wright got the gate while Slaughter got blocked out by the Eagles pairing. He sped round the outside of one and under the other, who expected him to go wide around him too.
The 7:3 maximum meant the final score was Stars 78 Eagles 77.
