A sunny but breezy evening ushered in the first match of the Summer Cup series for Braintree Sea Angling Club members.
Five members fished Felixstowe's Languard Point for five hours.
Lots of small fish were caught by all anglers but sizeable fish were hard to find.
Small codling and whiting made up most of the catches, with some pout, eel and bass landed.
A total of 41 fish counted in the final points tally and all returned safely to fight another day.
The winner was Kevin Thorpe with 160 points.
Second was Alan Porter with 119 points, while Chris Leonard finished third with 117 points.
The next match in the series is on Saturday at Orfordness, fishing 5pm to 10pm.
