Colchester Harrier Vicki Wheatland made a bright start to day three of the Essex AAA County Championships at Basildon.
She just missed out on a gold medal in the junior women's high jump, having to take part in a jump-off for first spot.
She was unlucky to be the first athlete to fail a height and had to settle for a well-earned silver.
Nicola Gaisford took the bronze medal, just behind Wheatland, with a clearance of 1.60m, while Lucy Mapp cleared 1.50m in the same competition.
The 400m hurdles for senior women saw Nicola Martell retain her title.
Running a very calculated race, she cruised round in 62.9s to take gold.
Wheatland took the bronze medal in the junior women's race, in 68.93s, while Alysia Halsey was fourth in 72.24s.
Jessica Cutts took the bronze medal in the under-17 women's 300m hurdles with a 46.45s clocking.
Cutts also finished fourth in the 300m race in 42.79s.
Cameron Irwin took the silver medal in the under-17 men's long jump with a leap of 5.90m. Rachel Swain long jumped 3.79m, while her sister Emily set herself a new PB of 2m 33.95s in the under-17 women's 800m and 45.16s in the 300m.
Stacey Wheat again retained a title from the previous year, winning the junior women's 800m in 2m 16.52s and Ella Neale won a fantastic silver medal in the under-17 women's 800m in 2m 19.74s.
Rob Earle rolled back the years to take gold in the senior men's discus, with a throw of 40.22m, and Michael Holden won bronze in the junior men's with a 38.82m throw.
Sophie Fisher pole vaulted 1.80m in the under-17 women's competition and Lucy Mapp took gold with 2.30m and Haylsey took silver in the junior women's pole vault.
Tom Herbert won a well-earned silver medal in the senior men's 3,000m steeplechase, in a time of 10m 01.51s.
And not to be outdone, Paul Spowage won silver, in the veteran men's 1,500m, with a time of 4m 23.81s.
Tom Cutts putt the shot out 9.65m and threw the under-17 men's javelin out to 42.09m.
The 200m was the last event of the weekend.
Heather Shepherd finished fifth in the final of the senior women's 200m and Louis Persent put in another top-class performance in front of the UK Athletics representative for the area when a he won the junior men's 200m in 21.73s.
