Tiptree Road Runners' Laura Shewbridge ignored the unseasonal heat to take a superb second lady's place at the Frinton half-marathon in a time of one hour 36 minutes 08 seconds.
Just behind, Martin Avent ran to a new personal best of 1h 37m 23s, taking more than six minutes off his previous best.
In the five-mile event at Frinton, Tiptree runners headed three age categories.
Ted Skinner was first V50 and seventh overall in a time of 34m 52s, Jim Slater took the V60 spot with a time of 37m 02s, while Roger Duffield ran 37m 21s to finish first V65.
Rob Hadgraft ran 38m 10s, with Paul Shewbridge, pacing another member of his family, running 54m.
At the Halstead Marathon, Greg McDowell made a great debut at the event, running 3h 30m on the tough course to finish 54th in a field of more than 400. Malcolm Bailey, finished in 56 seconds over the four-hour mark.
At the Welling 5K, Roger Duffield ran 23m 21s to take first V65 and retain his series lead in that age category.
