A new chapter of PDQ League history has been written by Abberton's big-scoring batsmen.

Kevin and Ryan Brown led the way with a historic milestone of their own as the first father and son to score maiden centuries in the league on the same day.

Kemsley Robb and Dennis Herring also weighed in to make it four Abberton centuries on the day in other PDQ action.

And father-to-be Mike Abrey started off a weekend to remember with another century in a Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship seventh division home win over Felixstowe twos.

There was surely no guessing what the topic of converstaion was in the Brown household on Sunday night.

Seventeen-year-old son Ryan hit his maiden ton - 104 not out and took four wickets - as Abberton (283 for four)triumphed over division three rivals Chappel at The Hobbies.

Not to be outscored, father Kevin starred with 106 in a super third-wicket partnership of 206 with Herring for the third XI at the Rugby Club, where Abberton (283 for four) beat division four hosts Cavaliers (189 for seven) by 94 runs.

Abberton also set a new club record as their three teams posted 933 runs on a very memorable day.

Elsewhere, Boxted's Michael Pearce set a personal milestone of his own with a maiden century (118 off about 86 balls) in the 111-run win over division two rivals Clacton Ramblers - exactly a week after he posted his first-ever half-century in the Knockout Cup win over Elmstead Grasshoppers.

Boxted totalled 270 for seven, in which Rohan Khaira also scored 62. Clacton replied with 159.

In the same division there was a record of a different kind where Lexden and Great Totham shared an incredible 124 extras in a relatively low-scoring game.

Lexden clocked up a remarkable 68 extras in their score of 175 all out, while Totham were not far behind with 56 in their 176 for five match-winning total.

Up in the premier division, Stuart Brice bagged bowling figures of six for 17 and Neil Brice hit 56 not out as Kelvedon (148 for five) beat Witham (147) by five wickets.

Despite a gallant undefeated 63 from Sam Blackwell, Coggeshall (202 for nine) suffered three run-outs when going down by just 12 runs at home to Frinton (214 for nine).

Back in the first division, Great Bromley continue to go on their merry unbeaten way, following a 155-run win at Gosfield.
