Colchester and Tendring Athletic Club hosted an East Anglian League event at the Garrison and had an excellent day - winning their under-15 and under-13 boys' sections and finishing third overall.
There were some superb individual performances. Making his breakthrough into sprinting was Cameron Patterson, who won his under-13 100 metres in 13.4 seconds and 200m in 27.4.8s.
Michael Porter was again outstanding in the under-15 boys, winning his 800m in 2m 14.4s and 400m in 60.08s.
Thomas Gifford, after taking a tumble at the start of his 800m race, did well to finish third.
Karl Drury (under-15) shone in the triple jump with an effort of 9m 23cm (a personal best) and high jump in 1m 40cm (second).
James McLeod out-ran his opponents in the under-15 boys' 1,500m, finishing first in 4m 50.4s.
There were impressive sprinters in the under-17 men's event.
Frazer Lamb (11.7s for a personal best) came second and Craig Webb (11.8s) was first in the B string.
In the under-17 girls, Stacey Eyers ran a fine 800m to finish second in 2m 32.3s.
In the under-15 girls, Felicity Doe looked strong in the 1,500m to come first in 5m 10s.
Evie Carter looked a great prospect, clearing the high jump in 1m 47cm for first and discus in 12m 48cm, again for first.
Dean Frost had a good double win in the under-13 boys' discus of 16m 82cm and shot of 6m 02cm.
James Redman looks a bright prospect. He came first in the 600m with a time of 1m 52.7s (PB) and first in the 80m.
In the senior women, Helen Bloomfield continued her rich vein of form by coming second in the 400m (59.9s) and 200m (in 27.2s).
Danielle Tatum ran from the front for an easy win in the 1,500m, clocking 4m 59s.
In the senior men, David Gibbon had a convincing win in the 3,000m with a time of 9m 10s.
Andrew Connerton was a good second in the 800m B string with Scott Thrush working hard in the B string, as did Rob Smith in his 400m for second.

Under-11s: Nathan Hill 600m 2m 23.9s, 80m 14.6s, Michael Barrenger 600m 2m 26.3s, 80m 15.2s and long jump 2m 17cm, Harry Hamilton 600m 2m 22.9s, 80m 13.7s and long jump 3m 3cm, James Morrell 600m 5m.
Under-17 women: Laura Hillyard 800m 2m 32.8s, Alesha Patterson 800m 2m 34.1s.
Under-15 girls: Karis Cullum 100m 14s 3rd long jump 4m 24s 2nd, Bella Featherstone shot 5m 01s and long jump 3m 81s.
Under-13 girls: H Lawrence long jump 3m 38cm and high jump 1m 1cm.
Under-11 girls: Talia Cullum 80m 12.4s and long jump 3m 43cm.
