Colchester United are set to secure the signing of Matt Lockwood on a two-year deal according to reports.

The U's confirmed at the end of last week that they had had a £100,000 bid accepted by Nottingham Forest for the the 31-year-old full-back and were in discussions with him about personal terms.

Reports from the Nottingham Evening Post have stated that Lockwood will put pen to paper on a two-year deal today.

However, Colchester manager Geraint Williams told the Gazette earlier today that talks were still ongoing and no deal had been finalised yet.

Lockwood has spent much of his career at Leyton Orient, clocking up over 400 appearances for the East London side, but only played 11 times for Forest, having joined them last summer.

If he does come to the U's, he will be the second summer signing, following the addition of central defender Matt Heath.
