Colchester United have offered Ademola Bankole the chance to become their full-time goalkeeper coach.
The U's have been in negotiations with the former Nigeria international and want him to take over from Aidan Davison, who has left the club to pursue a coaching role in America.
The former Crewe Alexandra shot-stopper impressed at the latter end of this season while filling in for Davison, who was recovering from a shoulder operation.
Colchester manager Geraint Williams was pleased with the way Bankole worked with first-choice keeper Dean Gerken and Mark Cousins.
And he now wants him to remain at the club on a permanent basis.
Williams told the Gazette: "We made Ademola an offer to stay and he's gone away to think about it.
"He has worked very hard with Dean Gerken and it was important that they gelled together."
