Talented young batsman Joshua Wells hit his first-ever century - after borrowing his father's bat.
The 13-year-old from Halstead scored a superb 150 for Essex under-14s in their match against Kent, in an innings which included 19 fours and a six.
It was Wells' first ton but he was forced to play with an unfamiliar bat, having damaged his own in a previous match.
However, rather than hinder him, it seems as though borrowing his father Tony's bat enhanced his game.
The innings included some luck, as he tired in the heat and he was dropped on both 97 and 149.
Nevertheless, it was a wonderful display of positive, aggressive batting and he was powerful all around the wicket, helping Essex win the match.
Wells has been in superb run-scoring form of late and scored a magnificent 95 for Felsted against Bishop's Stortford.
He will be hoping that his excellent form continues when he heads on tour to Wales with Essex next week.
Wells enjoyed a productive time at Holmwood House School in Colchester.
He is currently in the first year of an all-rounder scholarship at Felsted School but also plays at Halstead Cricket Club, where he is coached by David Robinson.
The hard-hitting youngster is looking forward to playing more for the Star Stile club from next month, after the current school term finishes.
