Danny Haynes is being linked with a £2 million move to FA Cup winners Portsmouth.
The Ipswich Town striker - voted the club's most improved player last term - has been the subject of repeated speculation, suggesting he could be on his way to a Premier League side.
Liverpool, Everton and West Ham have all reportedly expressed their interest in recent months and now Pompey are thought to be ready to offer £2 million.
England Under-19 international Haynes wants to have a holiday before making any decision on his future but is thought to be flattered by the interest.
Elsewhere, Matt Richards - out of the picture at Portman Road - is believed to be the subject of firm interest from former loan club Brighton.
The Seagulls, managed by former Colchester United assistant boss Micky Adams, are also thought to be keen on former Blues star Ian Westlake.
The midfielder, who was born and grew up in Clacton, spent the end of last season on loan at the Withdean Stadium but is still contracted to Leeds United.
However, he is reportedly surplus-to-requirements there and now thought to be weighing up a move to the South Coast.
Meanwhile, Town boss Jim Magilton has high hopes for Town's forthcoming tour of his native Northern Ireland.
He believes the trip could help his club forge strong links with the province.
The Blues will kick-off their tour against Cliftonville on July 14, take on Donegal three days later before playing in a testimonial for Glentoran's Paul Leeman on July 19.
Magilton said: "We'll be spreading the gospel of Ipswich Town to the people of Northern Ireland.
"Maybe we'll be able to form an attachment and that may lead to us getting a closer look at the best players over there, with an opportunity of bringing them to our club."
