Geraint Williams considered quitting as Colchester United manager on a number of occasions last season.

Williams was left deeply frustrated by his side's results in the Coca-Cola Championship, something which ultimately led to their relegation from the division.

He contemplated leaving the U's hot-seat - but said the support of his family and fellow staff was enough to persuade him to stay in the role.

He told the Gazette: "There were a number of times last season when I felt like walking away. I was very, very frustrated with the results we were getting and I'm the sort of person who takes losing very hard.

"I don't normally show my emotions, as people know, but inside it hurts as much as it does anyone else.

"There were many low moments last year.

"There were some dark times and that's when you need good people around you which is what I've got.

"I've had my family, the chairman and staff here and they've all been very supportive."
