Colchester Swimming Club youngsters had a good finish at Barnet Copthall to take them through to the winner's final round of the National Junior Speedo League.

Nine-year-old Lucy Coates swam superbly to claim victory in her 25 metre freestyle race as well as being a valuable member in relay teams, while 11-year-old Danielle Hall had an excellent swim to win her 50m butterfly and also swam well in the relays.

Cameron Simpson, nine, enjoyed a very successful evening and his determined swimming brought him victory in his 25m freestyle and breaststroke races. He was also a member of the winning boys' cannon relay team, which featured a girl or boy from each age group category.

excellent Guy Harrison had an excellent swim to win his 50m breaststroke race and he also swam a strong backstroke leg in the victorious 11-and-under medley relay, along with fellow 11-year-olds Jim Vickers, Matthew Lemnell and Alex Carter.

Vickers, Lemnell and Carter also swam to victory in the 4x25m freestyle relay with the help of Damien Green and Vickers was also a strong member of the boys' cannon relay team.

Alex Vipond, 12, and ten-year-old Tom Illidge swam with determination to take the group to a well-deserved victory.

Nine-year-old Phillipa Davenall was outstanding throughout this event, racing as a very strong member of four relay teams, as well as playing a major role in the victorious girls' cannon relay team.

Alice Insull, Ellie Tripp and Victoria Skornia made up the rest of the relay team who excelled in this event.
