Saskia Clark knows she and Christina Bassadone must cut out their high-scoring races if they are to sail to Olympic glory in Beijing in August.
A fifth place in the women's 470 Class medal race wasn't enough for the British Olympic duo to take a podium position at the Delta Lloyd Regatta in Holland as Dutch pairing, Marcelien de Koning and Lobke Berkhout, sailed solidly to win the medal race and claim bronze in the overall standings.
However, 28-year-old West Mersea Yacht Club member Clark felt there were positives to take from the regatta after a superb run in the middle when they won three back-to-back races.
She said: "We were disappointed after the medal race, but in general we were happy with the week.
"Our speed in the lighter breeze was good, we had good starts and made some good decisions.
"We are particularly pleased to have won some races, we now need to work on eliminating the high scorers which put us out of gold contention this week."
