Shelley Wakeling secured her first win of the season at the Braintree-based Revivals Motorsports Rallycross event.

Wakeling, along with Revivals team-mate Andy Lee, provided the best racing of the day in the Minis, with 16 cars entering.

The pair enjoyed some great heats, with Lee having two firsts and a second place, while Wakeling had a win and two seconds.

The final saw a front row of the top-three championship contenders.

Ian Thorndike was on pole, while Lee was in second and Wakeling was on the outside in third.

After a first corner accident the final had to be restarted.

Wakeling made a brilliant start and stormed into first place, hotly pursued by Thorndike.

Lee went in chase of second place but could not find a way past.

He tried a move on the final dirt bend but did not quite have the grip to make it stick and had to settle for third.

Wakeling led from the start and despite Thorndike's one last mad attempt on the final bend, she was able to secure her first win of the season.

action Richard Wakeling was also in action for Revivals in his MG ZS.

He started the day with three good heats which gave him a second row for the final grid.

Richard made a storming start to get through the chicane in to second and gave chase to the four-wheel drive Escort but an oil pipe split halted his charge for the win.

It forced him to retire from the final in order to prevent any major engine damage.

Revivals take part in the next round at Pembrey, South Wales, next month.
