Great Bentley Running Club's David Wright led his team-mates across the finish line at the Great Baddow ten-mile road race.

On an undulating course and in hot weather conditions, the in-form Wright came home in a time of one hour six minutes and three seconds.

Fast-improving Lara Townsend also enjoyed a fine race, finishing in 1h 16m 14s, which earned her a club gold standard award and a personal best time.

Bob Watt ran very well to finish in 1h 16m 34s, while Paul Blackwell ran his usual determined race, finishing in 1h 22m 11s, closely followed by Frank Gardiner in 1h 24m and Cherie Hipkins in a time of 1h 26m 22s.

Seventy-four-year-old Michael Sommerlad enjoyed his race, finishing in a time of 1h 48m 18s.

This race is proving to be more popular with over 700 entrants this year and also very good support throughout the course route.

Two members competed in the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k race on a scenic, undulating course.

Paul Blackwell ran a strong race, finishing in a time of 47m 03s, closely followed by Frank Gardiner in 47m 28s.

Ten Bentley members competed in the first race of the popular Friday five-mile evening series in Ipswich.

On a tough undulating course and also in warm weather, which many of the competitors found tough, Wright once again led the Bentley contingent across the finish line in 31m 14s.

He was closely followed by Clive Thomas in 32m 06s, despite sustaining painful injuries in a training run collision with a cyclist earlier in the week.

Mark Ross finished in 36m, with Tony Adams and Brian Telford both crossing the line together in 39m 06s.

Charlie Adams had a fine debut for the club, finishing in 39m 07s and was closely followed by Gardiner in 39m 50s, with Hipkins home in 40m 10s and Blackwell in 40m 11s.

Another new member to the club, Chris Hayes, enjoyed his second race, finishing in 41m 40s.
