Colchester and Tendring Athletic Club's women swept to a convincing team win in the annual Essex five-mile PB race at Basildon.

All the women, who train together, showed excellent team packing, having three runners in the top nine.

It was a personal triumph for 22-year-old Danielle Tatum as she stormed home second overall in the women's section in a personal best (PB) time of 30 minutes and ten seconds.

In her first five-mile road race, 17-year-old Laura Condron ran well within herself to finish in 32m 31s with a blistering burst of speed over the last 300 metres.

Becky Adams continues to improve with excellent pace judgement and she finished in a time of 32m 49s.

The club have been heartened to have an excellent crop of athletes in the 17 to 24-year-old age group who are now turning to road running, with the hard training and experienced coaching obviously paying dividends.

Six members of Colchester and Tendring Athletic Club competed in the Ipswich Jaffa five-mile race the first of the Friday night five series.
