Braintree and District Athletic Club's Aleasha Kiddle scooped a bronze medal for Essex at the International Games in Bedford.

Competing in the under-17 100 metres, she took on some of the most talented young sprinters in the UK.

She qualified in the heats with a time of 12.58 seconds and went into the final in confident mood to finish third in a time of 12.71s.

It was a fine achievement, especially given that it was Kiddle's (pictured number 441) first major experience of competing against other elite UK athletes.

Kiddle has already won the Essex AAA long jump and secured two bronze medals in the county 100m and 200m. Her vast improvement over this season is a credit to her, her excellent sprint coach Ken Hills and the very progressive Braintree club.

There were 13 new personal bests (PBs) set by Braintree members at the Southern Women's League match at Cambridge.

It was a very pleasing day for the whole team, who finished sixth out of the ten teams competing on the day.
