COLCHESTER United were beaten 2-0 by Mansfield Town in their final game of the 2022-23 season, on Monday afternoon.

Colchester supporters have their say on the game.

Today shows what Junior and Tovide bring to the team as we really missed them!! Keeping hold of them will be crucial for our success next season! Great atmosphere though and it shows that the fans are out there but just need to tempt them back with decent performances (& wins!)

Under the cosh for a lot of the first half although oddly only conceded to a bizarre free kick. Done enough in previous weeks to make sure today didn’t matter. Threw everything at it for 20 mins or so second half and unfortunate not to score, but it was a fair result in the end.

Typical end of season fayre… but not good enough I am afraid. Chilvers had the worst game of the season, it was disjointed too many stray passes. Read was the only positive.

One of those games, nothing to play for yet still a decent atmosphere, helped by the fact that Mansfield were still chasing playoffs. We have finished the season with more positives than negatives recently and now time to take stock and build for 2023-24.

Interesting to see if that’s Garner’s preferred formation. Current squad suits 3 at the back, Chambers struggles in a 2 & Hall’s influence is reduced away from the middle. Mansfield deserved to win. Not a bad performance but clear where we need to strengthen.

More positives than negatives. Signs there of a good squad and like Garner. Not so sure we'd have stayed up without him. With Tom Smith likely to be recalled, we need a decent keeper and reliable goal scorer. Depends how the contract negotiations go.
