TOM Smith returned to Colchester United on a two-year deal, on Monday.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper, who impressed for the U's while on loan at the end of last season, is back at the JobServe Community Stadium on a permanent contract, following his departure from Premier League club Arsenal.
He will compete with Owen Goodman, Sam Hornby and Ted Collins to be Colchester's first-choice keeper, this season.
U's supporters here have their say on Smith's return to the club.
Steve Duckling
One of our best signings in this window. Got to be our first choice.

Good signing, can see him being back up for Goodman and pushing him for the number 1 spot. Came through great last season for us and can see him being our future number 1 when Goodman goes back to Palace.
Anthony Clachan
Glad he's back had some very good performances with us last season so great he's now signed and that he can settle down as well
Steve Lowe
He was great when he came on for Ohara when he got injured in the warm up. Chuffed that he is back good keeper
Tom
Great news!!!!
Adam
Very happy that we got him permanently, thought he was quality with the game time he had towards the end of last season
Georgina Davies
Glad he's back, so with him and Goodman, we've got a couple of good goalkeepers. What's happening to Hornby?
Teejmcc
Great to have a young keeper on a permanent. Was amazing when played last year especially the performance away at Salford. Never put a foot wrong, calm and composed so happy with it 8/10 signing imo
Allen Smith
Great news I feel he was an integral part of our survival last season
Adam
Chuffed to see him back. Impressed when pipping O'Hara to the first team spot, good shot stopper, number of cleansheets in his brief number of games and has good distribution in his locker. Will push Owen Goodman for the first team spot. Also proves the ruthlessness of Garner
Sam Herron
Great signing a reliable keeper and more commanding than hornby
Aidan (Rob Holding Enjoyer)
Great competition for Goodman, quality player at the end of last season!
Michael O'Brien
Great stuff.
Russell Smith
How many keepers do you need still could do with another decent striker though
Si Collinson
Pleased he's back, showed his worth last season. Just seems strange that we bring in a keeper on loan and now Smith. Wonder what’s happening with Hornby
