COLCHESTER United get a brand new League Two season underway, this weekend.

Ben Garner's side head into their opening match against Swindon Town on Saturday full of optimism, following a productive pre-season.

Colchester have brought in five new signings this summer, with more expected to follow before the transfer window closes in four weeks' time.

Ahead of the new campaign starting, EFL football fans have been asked to predict how they think the final League Two table for the 2023-24 season will look.

Gazette:

BetVictor tasked 500 EFL fans with predicting the final table in May, and selecting their favourite for the Golden Boot.

They have predicted that Colchester will finish in 21st position - two places above the relegation zone.

Crawley Town (23rd) and Harrogate Town (24th) were the most selected sides in the survey to suffer relegation out of the EFL, with Crewe Alexandra tipped to finish 22nd.

At the other end of the table, fans are predicting Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham to secure what would be back-to-back league titles and win promotion to League One, under former U's boss Phil Parkinson.

Gazette:

Dave Challinor’s Stockport County missed out in the play-offs last season but are predicted to go one better and secure automatic promotion, in 23/24.

Fans are also backing Notts County to join Wrexham in securing back-to-back promotions, averaging a position of third in the study.

Gillingham, Bradford, Mansfield and MK Dons are all tipped to finish in the play-offs.

Of the three other relegated sides, Accrington (14th) are expected to finish the highest – ahead of Morecambe (19th) and Forest Green Rovers (20th).

The Golden Boot vote was dominated by Wrexham forward Paul Mullin.

Despite his pre-season injury, he secured over a fifth of the vote (20.80 per cent) ahead of David McGoldrick (13.60 per cent) and last season's golden boot winner, Andy Cook (12 per cent).
