COLCHESTER United claimed their first win of the season on Saturday with a 3-0 victory at previously unbeaten Gillingham.

Second-half goals from Fiacre Kelleher, Samson Tovide and Bradley Ihionvien secured the U's all three points at Priestfield Stadium, as Ben Garner's side got their League Two campaign up and running in style.

Nearly 400 Colchester fans made the trip across to Kent to see their side triumph - here are some of their views.

All the congratulations needs to go to BG for making all the right calls. Confidence he has shown in the young players. Well done to all the players now lets back it up with another positive result. Up the U's!

All clicked into place once Junior stormed off, need a team full of players that actually want to play for the club. Great having Tovide back and so pleased for Brad, that finish should be 18 rated, absolute filth!

Gillingham were poor but at least we took advantage. Still a few areas need attention but Garners aware and will address. We mess about at the back a bit too much, will bite us one day but Goodman very impressive apart from that.

Shows we can do it. Nervous at 1-0, excellent save from Goodman at 1-0 to keep us in it and looked comfortable once we got the second. Excellent take down & switch to calmly slot it home & an exquisite chip over our old keeper Turner for the third. Great win.

Would have been happy with a draw at halftime. But a very good second half display and the subs were bang on and changed the game. Good place to get the season off and running considering they were unbeaten so far. The injury to Lawrence is the only negative.

Gills didn't trouble much 1st half but we didn't look settled in our shape. The forced formation change heralded a solid 2nd half and a deserved win. Kelleher and Hall give us more confidence. I hope Nico's injury isn't serious, but maybe Garner has gotten lucky by being unlucky.

Unbelievable! After last Saturdays result but really needed and well deserved! 3 goals away from home! Clean sheet against League leaders with a great save! Hope #colu can up their home form to match this game

What a response to the disappointment of two late goals last week. Great for the young boys to get their goals too! Hopefully we can push on from here and start putting more points on the board!!

Junior has to go

Excellent in all departments. 2 outstanding goals 2 truly exciting young strikers. No need to focus on Junior; confident Garner will deal with it. Hall & Kelleher solid together. Good performances all round but Read controlled the midfield and stood out.
