COLCHESTER United were beaten 1-0 at Walsall, on Saturday afternoon.

A superb strike by Isaac Hutchinson secured the Saddlers victory at the Poundland Bescot Stadium, as the U's failed to follow up their 3-0 win at Gillingham.

Nearly 250 fans were at Walsall to see Colchester slide to defeat - here's the views of some U's supporters following a disappointing result for Ben Garner's side.

Depressing

Started poorly and the formation wasn’t working. Played better after it changed. However were still slow and tried to over play at times. Came close with set plays and Matt Jay added a different dynamic and should be involved from the start. Feel for Newby being the fall guy.

Lucky to be on level terms at the break. Great save from Goodman. Too slow and deliberate and overrun in midfield. 3 at the back worked better. Conceded a brilliant goal and then had more urgency and improved. Unlucky not to equalise at the end but not sure we deserved a point.

John Batts

Was at the game John. Very slow start. We lacked enthusiasm, speed, skill. Garner tried to change things and was working towards the end. Strangely didn't look like competition for places?? Some basic errors all over the place and why oh why can't we play a simple pass!!

David Clayton

Walsall deserved the win. Too many players off the pace today. Too many opportunities to play the ball in to feet or behind missed due to indecision. Missed a physical CM today. Kelleher & Read played well. Garner’s strong management is a positive; Newby deserved to be hooked early.

First half all sloppy couldn’t string a pass, greenidges passes were being well read. In front of goal there wasn’t much happening from open play however we looked good from some set piece plays and we’re very unlucky to not score one of them.

Georgina Davies

Absolutely poor, we were just too slow, improved when Matt jay came on. Not good enough 1 win out of 5 game's, let's hope its better next week

John S

Gutless, players looked half asleep most of the game. The New players can’t come soon enough, expecting a massive improvement for next week

Garner got the line up wrong. Newby & Chilvers together won't work. Newby right to be taken on but Chilvers not performing well at all. New signings hopefully will improve our midfield which is a massive issue. Read was superb.

There hasn’t been enough progress from previous relegation battles. Very poor, and soft. Too nice to play against.

Danny Binks

Gave ball away too much and they were more determined in the tackles. Brave to replace Newby so early but Jay didn’t add much difference imo. Too many players didn’t turn up today

HB

Constantly overrun in midfield with the 3 centre back obsession

S**t season yet again
