COLCHESTER United tumbled to a 3-1 home defeat to Morecambe, on Saturday afternoon.

JJ McKiernan's hat-trick secured the Shrimps a deserved victory at the JobServe Community Stadium, with the visitors having played for nearly an hour with only ten men following James Connolly's red card.

Cameron McGeehan scored Colchester's consolation goal, on a disappointing day for Ben Garner's side.

Here, U's fans have their say on the defeat.

After last Sat I was reading how difficult it will be to fit in the current injured players into the team when they are fit. 2 games later and we want some of the current team replaced ASAP. What’s gone wrong? What happened? Garner needs to identify the issues and quickly.

Michael O'Brien

Abject, particularly against ten men and one of our probable relegation rivals. The Garner experiment is increasingly looking like a failure - remember it was Bloomfield who kept it us last year.

The poorest team performance I’ve seen in a long long time. Incredibly disappointing and some senior players really not proving their worth.

Just plain old me

If no one said to you that Morecambe were down to ten men you wouldn't have known it.. worrying times

Egbo aside, an embarrassment. Hall, Chilvers, Taylor, Tovide all off their game. Fevrier’s final ball was non-league standard at best. Hall looks a shadow of himself; maybe the captaincy is too burdensome. In his absence, Read showed himself as our most important player. Awful.

They were so slow today nothing like last week running at 100mph .Worst I’ve seen In a while and that’s saying something. Could have been 4 down at half time. Players to sort

Mike Pomroy

Shows the value of Read in the midfield. Without him the philosophy changed from the Garner ball out from the back to a longer game that didn’t really work with the players struggling to adapt.

Fevrier 100% class Most of the rest were walking Chilvers not even walking

No press. Wing backs throttled. Too slow. No movement when we had the ball. Should have been 3-0 down at half time. Tactics all wrong. Got exactly what we deserved. A shadow of the performance 7 days ago! Chilvers must be dropped though, how many times did he cough up possession!

Luke Fordham

Not a clue what them tactics was for the first half an hour

Jeff Coates

Utter dross. I really thought things would be different this season but here we are back in our usual spot just above the relegation zone.

Poor from start to finish. Lack of energy and too much sideways or backwards passing when in good positions. We’re lucky to have such a good keeper or we’d be even worse off than we are already. Garner got the tactics all wrong Morecambe didn’t look stretched even when down to 10

Players have let us down again. Too many of them are only here to get their next move and they all have it far too easy. The culture of accepting the lowest of standards is deep rooted in the club and isn’t going away.

Tracey Welsh

It was a woeful performance. Slow and disjointed. Poor defensively and offensively. The 5-4 was great entertainment but the euphoria of the win glossed over conceding 4 goals. Unfortunately, injuries are largely at the back and so not much scope to change.

Abysmal. Lacked effort.

Lethargic, mentally unprepared and a number of players hiding in plain sight. Subs not early enough. We have the talent but it’s not being utilised correctly week in week out. Sadly it seems unless physiologically we can change games like last weekend will be few and far between
