THERE have been many games in the history of football that have been remembered for actions or comments that stick in the mind of the fans, the famous white horse FA Cup Final, for instance.
Well another title can be added to that list from the weekend's visit to Morecambe - this game should now be known as the tale of “Colchester United and the Sexy Bench”.
This immortal line was delivered by Danny Cowley after our convincing 1-0 away win, the first under his leadership.

While at first glance it no doubt brings more questions than answers, it was in reference to him explaining how strong our bench was and how much substitutes are needed to be ready to play their part in games.
It was another masterstroke in man management, as he described how these on the bench almost have a harder and more important part to play over those who start, by coming on to add to the game and having to hit the ground running without time to feel their way into the match.
It shows that he values his whole squad and not just a select few.
This was all said post match, after a game that really did show to all how much the last two weeks on the training ground have helped to really get the way Danny and Nicky like to play ingrained in the players.
Plus, there was the added bonus of the new loan players coming in; they all showed what they have to offer and improved the side no end.
It was nice to hear that as far as the Cowleys are concerned, yes they are on loan, but it is very much with a view to keep them long term as long as all parties are happy come the end of the season.
This is unusual for January loans, who are normally there to plug gaps and no thoughts beyond the season come into play.
But yet another positive here is that the club has one eye on the current situation, but also are already planning for the summer window.
It's something that should not be viewed lightly as by getting players in place early and the squad settled, it means the summer can be more about season prep rather than squad rebuilding.
I am getting ahead of myself of course and coming back to the present, there are still a fair few games to play.

The trip to Morecambe was rewarded with a well polished display that was one of the best we have seen in seasons, a high intensity press, a team hungry for the ball.
Arthur Read scored the free-kick – if not goal – of the season, Goodman saved an early second-half penalty and all worked hard to ensure the clean sheet was kept intact.
New lads Harbottle, Smith and Anderson fitted in like that have been here all season, so like I said an all-round good day up North.
This high was once again lifted even more by both Danny and Nicky saying that although they were very happy with what they have seen, there is work to still be done, a pair who do not rest on their laurels and see work on points that can only make us better.
Saturday we have Forest Green Rovers at home, a game that is must win, not only from where they sit in the table but also to see the humiliation of the 5-0 defeat earlier in the season put right and pride restored.
Play like we did up at the Mazuma and there is no doubt we will comfortably get the three points, but with how things have been this season, nothing is for certain.
We will all need to be on top of our game and this includes us fans; let's hope the current feel-good factor carries on and as many as possible are able to pack the stands and be in full voice to see the lads to another three points.
Up the U’s.
