COLCHESTER United under-21s claimed a second successive Professional Development League Two win following a 2-1 triumph at Coventry City at the CBS Arena, writes BRIAN WALLER.
After Bradley Stretton put a chance wide for the Sky Blues, things began well for Colchester.
They took an early lead after nine minutes despite home appeals for offside, with a goal by recent signing Ollie Godziemski.
Coventry pushed for an immediate response and a minute or so later, Aidan Dausch beat his man on the wing and cut the ball back for Bradley Stretton who could not find a connection.

City were soon back on level terms after 12 minutes with a goal by Rylie Siddall, as Dermi Lusala put in a low cross for him to force home from close range.
Just after half-time, Dausch tested Colchester keeper Ted Collins but the shot was saved.
As the game progressed, a second U’s goal gave them the lead with 19 minutes remaining.

A shot from distance hit both posts before Archie Oliver followed up to score.
Coventry keeper Luke Bell was forced to make several good saves and defender Lusala was a busy man, too.
However Colchester held on for the win and after Bristol City’s 4-1 loss at Barnsley, it reduced the points deficit to just one point at the bottom of the table.
Cardiff are two points ahead, with Colchester having a game in hand.
