COLCHESTER United lost 1-0 at Notts County in their final away game of the season, on Saturday afternoon.
Macauley Langstaff's second-half strike proved the difference between the two sides at Meadow Lane, as the U's were made to wait to secure their League Two status.
Here are the Gazette player ratings, after a lacklustre display by the U's on the road.
SAM HORNBY 7
U’s keeper had little chance with Langstaff’s winner and made several good saves late on
JAY MINGI 6
Had a tough task at right-back up against Jodi Jones but was solid again. Booked
CONNOR HALL 6
U’s skipper was strong in the air on a disappointing day for Colchester
RILEY HARBOTTLE 6
Former Nottingham Forest defender almost grabbed a late equaliser on return to the side
ELLIS IANDOLO 7
U’s man of the match. Hit the woodwork early on with an audacious effort and also made fine defensive intervention

Was not his usual influential self in midfield on a tough away day for Colchester. Booked
JAYDEN FEVRIER 5
Had some good moments but not enough to consistently threaten the Magpies’ defence
NOAH CHILVERS 5
Tried hard to find openings for the U’s to little avail on his return to the side. Booked
JAYDEN RICHARDSON 5
Worked hard in a left wing role against his former club on his return to the starting line-up
CAMERON MCGEEHAN 5
Went close with a first-half header that went straight at Ashby-Hammond; played just behind Hopper
TOM HOPPER 5
Was well marshalled by the Notts County defence before being replaced by Akinde on the hour

Had few glimpses of goal in the final half hour after coming off the bench for Hopper
CONOR WILKINSON (for Richardson, 68) 5
Tried his best to secure an equaliser for the U’s in the final quarter of the match but to no avail
