COLCHESTER United had more than 1,000 fans at Plough Lane as they saw their side beaten 4-2 at AFC Wimbledon.
Ben Goodliffe scored twice on his U's debut inside the first nine minutes, to get the visitors off to a flying start.
But James Ball pulled a goal back in the 13th-minute effort before Jake Reeves equalised with a fine strike on the half hour.
Wimbledon went ahead through a controversial penalty just before half-time scored by Matty Stevens, before Omar Bugiel wrapped things up for the hosts early in the second half.
U's fans have their say on a disappointing opening-day defeat.

First 30 mins fantastic, New signings definitely look promising and great to see Owura Edwards back. It look like we can build something spectacular but we need a couple more signings

Mmmmmm very strong opening 10, then just seemed to fall apart. Tough opening day fixture and lessons to be learnt. Disappointed to lose, but there were glimpses of what is to come once we get everything firing, long diagonals killed us and we have them to much space out wide.

Same defensive naivety as last season which is worrying, but it’s the first game. Like Danny said if you defend softly then you’ll concede goals. We also missed a fully fit Teddy Bishop and Harry Anderson in midfield as well as Taylor up top.
David Clayton
Disappointing but early days. Definitely positives; Payne & Goodliffe were excellent, Bishop looked a class act when he came on. The system left us exposed out of possession. Think DC will have a clearer picture of the best formation for this squad & there will be changes next week

Referee was absolutely appalling, it was never a penalty and it should have been a red card. Great 10 mins though

New Col U, same result. A disappointing and poor start to the season. Started well but was absolute manure after the 1st 20 mins. Didn't test Goodman, midfield a nonentity & 2nd to everything. Our shape was appalling with Hunt getting roasted time & time again & Hopper anonymous.

Trust the process

Not a great result and we looked weaker in the tackle than them Slower in defence , but good up front , the way the goal went were fortunate for them , defection , spillage , penalty and a foul on goodliffe

Started off well then lost our momentum and heads after they got the second goal midfield looked poor and defensively all over the place referee was terrible how he gave a penalty for that i will never know but luckily it's only the first game so i won't be panicking too much

Appallingly Appalling. No defence. Players out of position. A keeper completely lost. Yep. Same col utd, same s**t, different team. Starting the season where we left off.
