COLCHESTER United bowed out of the Carabao Cup after losing 1-0 at home to Premier League side Brentford in an absorbing cup-tie on Wednesday night.

Keane Lewis-Potter bagged the Bees' winner just before half-time, in front of a crowd of nearly 7,000 at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Colchester fans have their say on their side's second-round tie.

Once again held our own and looked decent against a strong Brentford side, but once again not able to capitalise on the possession and score when on top. Got to play to the whistle, no matter what the players think. Score the pen and I think we would have gone on to win.

Fantastic effort by the whole team. Again deserved more from the game. Results will come without doubt

Great performance from our boys. It was us who looked like a premiership side early on. Yet again decided by a refereeing error. Shame Payne couldn’t put away the pen but a good all round performance.

Unless Taylor gets fit and can start scoring or we bring someone in it's starting to look like a season where we come away thinking that we've played well but got nothing. Box to box tonight we were good, but we're toothless up front and you don't win games in the middle third.

Colchester were only going to ever get one or two opportunities and the penalty was the golden one. Unfortunately if you can't put the ball in the net you can't win

Really pleased with the performance. Deserved a draw against a strong premier league side. We’re so different to last season; super organised & playing with intensity in and out of possession. The results will come. Donnelly looks a solid signing.

Referee was poor, again, it’s becoming a theme against us every week.
