COLCHESTER United were thrashed 4-0 at Walsall, on Saturday afternoon.

The U's sit 15th in the League Two table, after suffering their heaviest defeat since Danny Cowley took over in January.

Here are the views of Colchester fans, after their side were put to the sword at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

We matched them well first 45. 2nd half we looked poor. We didn’t have a system to get back in the game. No real threat after the front two were replaced. DC damage limitation and screwed that up. We are better than last season. Important to win home games now though

Jim Lattimore

Looked promising first half until they scored late on. Rocked up for the second half and fell to pieces. Wasn’t a performance worthy of a 4-0 loss until the last 20 minutes. Promising signs early on but have zero faith in some of our defenders based on a few games this season.

The game just came and gone in a blink of an eye. Did not expect to leave the game as a 4-0 defeat. Semi decent performance but it seems that we tend to go a goal down and struggle to get back in. Today we needed more clear chances at goal. We have Tuesday to go again.

Couple of offsides and a deflection overall flattery for Walsall but simply not good enough after 2:0 down seem to capitulate. Big game at vale who are going well too. Real test to see if we are in a bottom table fight again or top half

One step forward, two steps back

If it had ended at 0-1 we would of felt hard done by. The simple fact is our defence squandered 4 soft goals and that's all on them. We can swallow a loss if we see passion and energy, neither were there today. Flanagan is not Captain material.

Embarrassing. 1-0 was a harsh scoreline at the time but we seemed to give up at the end.

No words tbh, why would you take 2 strikers off when we're losing. When Bishop went off we lost midfield, no consistency

Si Collinson

Played well with no end product for the first 20 minutes or so, didn't seem to want to shoot or take a chance. Then boom they get their foothold and we couldn’t get back in. But there is NO excuse for the 4-0 scoreline, just laid down and gave up at the end.

When we got on the ball there were just too many passes, trying to create the perfect chance. It would be nice to see us shoot a little bit earlier to avoid overplaying it. Walsall defended well and yet again we were soft at the back. Team identity & cohesion needs establishing
