COLCHESTER United were beaten 2-1 at home by Cheltenham Town, on Saturday afternoon.

First-half goals from Jordan Thomas clinched the Robins' victory, despite Lyle Taylor's fine strike.

Here are the U's fans' views on the game, after Colchester fell to a disappointing defeat.

Doug

A real lack of intensity and urgency. The shortage of forward options has bitten us again and I'm concerned about DCs comments about losing pace with the departures of Fevrier, Mingi and Brad. Two of them went with plenty of time for replacements, so no real point in complaining.

Jonathan Perry

Only one player stood out for Colchester today for two reasons. Pink hair and his goal, it’s a shame that the others didn’t share his passion. Whatever the team are trying to do, it’s not working. Time to sort it out.

If the Cowleys can’t fix this club, we may as well all just pack it in.

Jay Matthams

Awful. We need to stop trying to be too clever and play a balanced system with players in their best positions. Why shove Jack Payne out to the right when he was the heartbeat of the side in the 10 role earlier in the season?

Dave B

We just seem to be a hard luck story. Forever conceding bad goals. We have to work really hard to get back into game and then throw away. It's like groundhog day each week. Feels like all the early season enthusiasm has disappeared in both the fans and DC himself sadly

Sean

I’m no expert but could we maybe try playing the players in the positions they are used to playing

Something about the club just doesn’t feel right….. starts at the top…… I hope they improve and I’m sure they will

Colin Baker

Only two players I thought were decent and that’s Taylor and Gordon the rest were just awful the Cowley’s have one hell of a job on to sort this mess out

Jon Whiting

The club can't be fixed. Too much damage has been done by Robbie and his mates with their decision making. Years and years of employing coaches with no football league experience and out of their depth. It's generated a strong losing mentality that even the Cowleys can't shift.

Betson

Losing faith every game. Same old same old. If this continues in the next 5 games then we're in a relegation scrap again, whether people like it or not.

Not good enough. Personally think it’s the worse performance we have seen this season. At home against a team that offered very little, we were frail defensively and had players all over the place. Need to go back to basics and also revisit the selection of who is captain.

Appalling display today. Didn’t appear 2 b a game plan other than hoof the ball upfield. Side to side play time & time again. Where is the positive attacking football we started the season playing? Can’t see us getting anything from Chesterfield who score for fun. Ref was a joke

It is very difficult to disagree with a lot that people have said. Our defence is poor, and it starts with the captain. DC has to bench him, give the captaincy to Lyle and develop a new back four partnership. Too many players were well below the necessary standard. Very poor...

Steve Marriage

Honest words from DC, but hearing this too many times with little response in the performances. I don’t like the implication that this is to do with losing players preseason. He brought new talent in, he needs to get the basics right and be brave enough to drop his captain imo!

Usual complaints about the quality of refereeing aside - it was a hard watch. Cheap goals given away. Looked good in attack for first 30 mins - but sadly Tovide came off, and took the positive attacking play with him. No incision from then on, just sideways passes.
